Apple Moves To Block CCI Antitrust Probe From Accessing Global Financial Data

Apple has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court seeking to prevent the Competition Commission of India (CCI) from accessing its worldwide financial records. The move comes as Apple challenges the legality of India’s 2024 antitrust penalty rules, which allow fines to be calculated based on global revenue instead of local revenue.

The dispute stems from a CCI investigation in which the regulator accused Apple of abusing its position through App Store policies, claims Apple denies. Court filings show Apple argues that providing global financial data could affect its ongoing legal challenge and expose it to a potential penalty of up to USD 38 billion. The CCI issued a confidential order last year on 31st December requesting the data, despite Apple’s pending challenge to the rules. Indian regulators defend the global turnover model as a deterrent for multinational companies. The Delhi High Court will hear Apple’s request on January 27, 2026.
