Anuradha Rao & Parvathy Vairava Sundaram Appointed As Independent Directors Of SBI Cards & Payment Services

Anuradha Rao and Parvathy Vairava Sundaram have been appointed as Independent Directors of SBI Cards and Payment Services Limited, effective November 13, 2025, and December 9, 2025, respectively. The appointments were approved on February 6, 2026.

Rao has close to four decades of experience in the banking and financial services sector. She earlier served as Deputy Managing Director for strategy and digital banking at State Bank of India (SBI), where she was involved in growth and strategic initiatives. She also held the role of Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director (CEO & MD) at SBI Funds Management Ltd. Her Board experience includes directorships at the National Stock Exchange of India and several non-banking financial companies. Rao holds a bachelor’s degree in science from Osmania University and a master’s degree in physics from the University of Hyderabad. She is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers.

Sundaram began her career as a commercial banker before moving to central banking, where she served in various roles across major departments of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in multiple centres. She also acted as RBI’s nominee on bank Boards and international training institutions. She served as Executive Director at the RBI and retired in November 2019. Her work covered banking regulation and supervision, including oversight of the Asset Quality Review during 2015–17, migration to risk-based supervision, development of a model for small foreign banks, and revision of PCA guidelines. Sundaram was part of the RBI groups on MCLR review and public credit registry, and is a member of the Standing External Advisory Committee for bank licensing.
