Anoop K. Mittal Appointed Independent Director At Hindustan Zinc; Pallavi J. Bakhru Reappointed

Anoop Kumar Mittal has been appointed as Non-Executive Independent Director (Additional Director) of Hindustan Zinc Limited, effective August 1, 2025, subject to the approval of shareholders at the ensuing Annual General Meeting.

Further, Pallavi Joshi Bakhru has been reappointed as Non-Executive Independent Director of the company, effective August 10, 2025, subject to the approval of shareholders at the ensuing Annual General Meeting.

Meanwhile, Akhilesh Joshi retires as Non-Executive Independent Director of the company effective July 31, 2025, upon completion of his tenure.

Mittal brings over 40 years of experience in the construction sector, spanning civil engineering, consultancy, real estate development, mergers and acquisitions, and project management. He served as Chairman and Managing Director of NBCC (India) Ltd from 2013 to 2019, during which the company was granted Navratna status in 2014. He has received multiple recognitions, including the SCOPE Excellence Award for Individual Leadership and a Lifetime Achievement Award from Construction Times Magazine, acknowledging his contributions to the field of civil and construction engineering. Mittal is a civil engineering graduate from Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Punjab University, and he was conferred an honorary Doctor of Philosophy by Singhania University.

Bakhru is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, with over 30 years of experience in tax, regulatory, and advisory services. She currently leads the Private Client Service practice at Grant Thornton Bharat and heads the firm’s India–UK Corridor. Her expertise spans corporate tax, litigation, tax structuring, FEMA regulations, and international arbitration under Bilateral Investment Treaties. Recognised among the Top 10 Women in Tax in India by the International Tax Review in 2015, she has advised clients across diverse sectors, including natural resources, aviation, retail, manufacturing, and education. Bakhru has been instrumental in simplifying global structures and resolving high-stakes tax matters for large business groups.
