Ankur Kagrana To Succeed Sumit Gupta As Chief Risk Officer Of ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company
Ankur Kagrana has been appointed as Chief Risk Officer and Senior Management Personnel (CRO & SMP) of ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company Limited, with effect from January 20, 2026. He will succeed Sumit Gupta, who resigned as CRO to pursue aspirations outside the company, effective January 19, 2026.
Meanwhile, Sankaran Naren has been reappointed as the Executive Director of the company, with effect from July 1, 2026, subject to approval of the shareholders.
Additionally, Antony Jacob has been reappointed as Independent Director of the company with effect from June 1, 2026, subject to approval of the shareholders.
Kagrana joined the AMC in December 2007 and currently manages the internal controls function. He has been designated as the CRO of the company and will be responsible for overall risk management, reporting directly to the Managing Director. He has nearly two decades of experience in internal controls, fraud risk management, investment risk, and internal audit. Prior to joining the company, he was associated with Chokshi & Chokshi LLP, a Chartered Accountant firm. Kagrana is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree.
Naren is the Executive Director and Chief Investment Officer of the company. With over 28 years of experience in financial services, his expertise spans investment banking, fund management, equity research, and stockbroking operations. He is a member of the Committee on Equity Matters at AMFI and has previously worked with Refco – Sify Securities India, HDFC Securities, HSBC, and Yoha Securities. He received the “India CIO of the Year” award at the Asia Asset Management 2023 Best of the Best Awards.
Jacob has previously served as CEO and Managing Director at Apollo Munich Health Insurance, Regional Finance Director at Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance (Middle East), and Managing Director at Royal Sundaram Alliance Insurance. He has over 37 years of experience in finance, advisory, and consultancy and is currently a designated partner at Janum Consultants LLP. He was awarded the “CA Business Leader – Mid Corporate (BFSI)” by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
