Amitava Sarkar To Succeed Sankar Balasubramanian As Regional Compliance Officer Of Siemens

Amitava Sarkar has been appointed as the Regional Compliance Officer of Siemens Limited, effective April 1, 2026. He will succeed Sankar Balasubramanian, who will retire as the Regional Compliance Officer, effective March 31, 2026.

Sarkar has been associated with Siemens for over ten years in senior legal advisory roles across businesses, including Metals Technologies, Power and Gas, Power Generation Services, and Digital Industries in India. Between 2015 and 2017, he served as Head of Legal and Compliance at Primetals Technologies before rejoining Siemens in August 2017. Since 2019, he has been Lead Counsel for Smart Infrastructure, advising business leadership on legal strategy, contracts, compliance programmes, governance frameworks, and risk management. He is a legal and compliance professional with close to two decades of experience in governance, regulatory compliance, and legal risk management. Sarkar holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Calcutta University and is a certified trainer in contracts and claims management.

Balasubramanian has worked in ethics, compliance, and audit roles across organisations, including GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals India, PwC India, Oracle, and KPMG India. At GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd., he served as Vice President (VP) of Ethics and Compliance from 2018 to 2022. Earlier, he was the Ethics and Compliance Leader at PwC India, where he was involved in setting up the ethics and business conduct function. His prior roles include Senior Audit Manager at Oracle and Senior Auditor at KPMG India, with work covering risk-based audits, forensic reviews, process improvement, and regulatory compliance. He is a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
