Amazon sued by the US for increasing online costs & harming consumer

The US government has officially filed a lawsuit against Amazon alleging that it has been behaving unfairly. This follows the recent actions against Google and Facebook. According to reports, US regulators and 17 states have accused Amazon of increasing online costs and harming consumers.

The US government is suing Big Tech companies to prevent them from having too much power over the internet. There were complaints that the big firms utilise their influence to control the most profitable portions of the internet, such as search, social media, and online commerce. After a four-year investigation, these suits are being filed.

According to a statement issued by the Federal Trade Commission, “The FTC and its state partners say Amazon’s actions allow it to stop rivals and sellers from lowering prices, degrade quality for shoppers, overcharge sellers, stifle innovation, and prevent rivals from fairly competing against Amazon.”
