Amazon hit with a lawsuit for Prime Video ad fees
A lawsuit is filed against Amazon in California for asking additional payment from Prime subscribers for ad free content. The Hollywood Reporter reported that a person who subscribes to Amazon Prime has a significant problem with the company putting ads on Prime Video. They sued Amazon, saying the ads were unfair and broke the rules about advertising and protecting consumers.
The problem started when Amazon began showing some ads to U.S. subscribers, asking them to pay more to watch without ads. The person suing wants the court to consider it a class action case, including others who signed up for Amazon Prime before December 28 last year. They’re asking for things like stopping Amazon from being deceptive, paying for damages, and having a jury trial. The lawsuit says people who subscribed to Amazon Prime before the ads expected to watch without interruptions, based on what Amazon said about the service over the years.
