Ajay Prakash Sawhney Appointed Independent Director of IDBI Bank

Ajay Prakash Sawhney, Additional Director on the Board of IDBI Bank Limited has been appointed as Independent Director for the period of 4 years with effect from August 28, 2023.

Ajay Prakash Sawhney, currently, serves on the Board of the Data Security Council of India and the Delhi Gymkhana Club Limited. Sawhney is a 1984 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. He served as the Secretary to the Government of India at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology until his retirement on February 28, 2022. During his tenure as the Secretary  he played a key role in initiatives such as the Digidhan Mission to promote UPI, digital payments, also contributed to the growth of the Aadhaar ecosystem and the development of national digital platforms like Digilocker, Umang, Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (Health), Bhashini (language technologies), and supported the expansion of electronic manufacturing in India. He actively supported Indian technology start-ups and the Atmanirbhar Bharat Apps. He oversaw matters related to cyber law, cyber security, the Data Protection Bill, the design of Indian micro-processors, supercomputing, and the launch of the National Semiconductor Mission. His expertise spans Information Technology, Payment & Settlements, Human Resource, Administration, and Corporate Governance. He graduated from the Institute of Mechanical Engineers in London, UK.
