Abhijit Chakravorty Appointed MD and CEO of SBI Cards

SBI Cards and Payment Services Ltd appointed Abhijit Chakravorty as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer on 10th July 2023. He replaced Rama Mohan Rao Amara.

Chakravorty began his banking career in 1988 as a probationary officer with SBI. Over the course of his banking career, he has worked in retail and corporate banking, overseas operations, and the bank’s IT vertical Chakravorty has worked at the Bank’s Hong Kong division. He worked for the bank’s Commercial Credit Group for a considerable amount of time and was involved in high-value Corporate Lending. As CEO and Country Head, Chakravorty oversaw the Bank’s Bangladesh operations. He also headed the vertical for the IT operations of the customer-facing channels and payment systems in his previous position as Chief General Manager (Channels & Operations) at the Bank’s Global IT Center. In addition to being a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB), he has a master’s degree in applied chemistry
