A Probe Indicates That The EY India Office Did Not Have A Permit Governing Operating Hours

The office of EY in Pune has been under investigation ever since Audit Executive Anna Sebastian Perayil died at the young age of 26 because of, allegedly, excessive working hours. The office has been operating without mandatory registration since 2007, violating Maharashtra’s Shops and Establishments Act, which regulates working hours. This tragic event was highlighted because of the viral letter of Perayil’s mother; the case has paved the way for a government investigation into the employees welfare. EY India assured total compliance with all authorities in the country. This speaks to the significance of work reform, especially in the stressful domain, in order to protect the lives of employees.
