Petronet LNG Appoints Sanjay Kumar as Managing Director & CEO

Petronet LNG Limited has approved the appointment of Sanjay Kumar, Director (Marketing) at GAIL (India) Limited, as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) of the company. The appointment was approved by the Board at its meeting held on October 2, 2026.

Sanjay Kumar joined GAIL (India) Limited as Director (Marketing) on June 15, 2023. Prior to this, he was deputed by GAIL as Managing Director of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) from March 25, 2022. During his tenure at IGL, a leading city gas distribution company operating town gas supply networks and CNG infrastructure across 11 geographical areas, including the National Capital Territory of Delhi, the company achieved its highest-ever gas business sales, turnover and profits in financial year 2022-23 despite challenging conditions.

Kumar holds a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and an MBA in Business Administration from Indira Gandhi National Open University. He has also completed executive education programmes from the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, in Leadership in the Market Focussed Company for GAIL, and the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, in Business Planning and Growth Strategies for World-Class Performance.
