Independent Directors Dr. Anil Gupta & Dr. K. Ghayathri Devi Cease To Be on REC Board

REC Limited has announced that Dr. Anil Kumar Gupta and Dr. Kanchiappan Ghayathri Devi have ceased to be Part-time Non-Official (Independent) Directors of the Company with effect from September 22, 2026.

Both directors were appointed to the REC Board on June 22, 2026, for a period of three months or until further orders, whichever was earlier. Their tenure consequently ended on September 21, 2026. The appointments were made ahead of the REC Board’s approval of the draft merger scheme with Power Finance Corporation (PFC). Their induction enabled REC to meet the mandatory requirement for the number of Independent Directors on its Board, particularly on the Audit Committee. Following the merger, REC will be absorbed into PFC from April 1, 2027.

Devi has been associated with Surya Diagnostics as a medical practitioner since 1997. She has also held various public and social leadership positions, including as a member of the State Commission for Women, Member of the Legislative Assembly and Officer on Special Duty with the Ministry of Environment and Forests. She is also an Independent Director at NTPC. She holds an MBBS, a Diploma in Medical Cosmetology and an MBA in Hospital Management and Health Administration.

Gupta has experience across environmental sustainability, business, social development and governance. He holds advanced degrees including an MSc in Environmental Science, MBA, MA, LLB and PhD. He has served on the Boards of environmental and public-sector organisations and is also an Independent Director at NTPC Limited. He has undertaken specialised courses at IIT Roorkee and IISc Bengaluru and has been involved in various environmental and governance initiatives.
