IOCL Independent Director Alka Mundra Steps Down Over Independence Criteria
Dr. Alka Mundra has resigned as Independent Director of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), with effect from September 18, 2026. She resigned citing a potential breach of Independent Director criteria due to her son’s pecuniary relationship with IndianOil.
Dr. Mundra has a multidisciplinary academic and professional background spanning Political Science, Law, Public Policy, Governance, and Social Development. She holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, an LL.B. from Vidyapeeth, Udaipur, and a Ph.D. in Political Science from Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur.
With experience in education, social development, public policy, and legal studies, she has developed expertise in governance, public administration, social empowerment, and community development. She is also actively associated with initiatives focused on women’s empowerment and social development. Her professional background encompasses perspectives on inclusive development, stakeholder engagement, social issues, and public institutions.
