Eric Vivek Mazumdar Reappointed As Director Of Biocon; Nicholas Robert Haggar Retires

Eric Vivek Mazumdar has been reappointed as the Director of Biocon Limited, effective August 6, 2026. Meanwhile, Nicholas Robert Haggar has retired as an Independent Director upon completion of his term, effective August 6, 2026.

Eric Vivek Mazumdar is an Assistant Professor of Computing & Mathematical Sciences and Economics at the California Institute of Technology. His research focuses on the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and economics, with an emphasis on developing frameworks for responsible AI applications in society and science. He has contributed to research projects with institutions including the University of California, Berkeley, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, and the MIT Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research. During his doctoral research at UCLA and Berkeley, he worked on machine learning algorithms for large-scale societal systems, with applications in intelligent infrastructure, healthcare delivery, and e-commerce. He has also received the Simons Institute Research Fellowship for research at the intersection of machine learning and economics.
