Anthropic Adds Former Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke To Oversight Body
Artificial Intelligence (AI) company Anthropic has appointed former U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke to its long-term benefit trust, an oversight body responsible for ensuring the company remains aligned with its public benefit mission.
Bernanke is an economist and former Chairman of the U.S. Federal Reserve, serving from 2006 to 2014. He led the central bank during the global financial crisis and the Great Recession, overseeing monetary policy measures, including quantitative easing and reforms to improve transparency and communication. He was awarded the 2022 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences for his research on banks and financial crises. Before joining the Federal Reserve, he chaired the President’s Council of Economic Advisers and was a professor of economics and public affairs at Princeton University, where he also headed the Economics Department. Bernanke holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Harvard University and a doctorate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
