
Indian-Origin Ravi Thanawala To Replace Mike Mathias As EVP & CFO Of American Eagle Outfitters
Ravi Thanawala has been appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (EVP & CFO) of American Eagle Outfitters, effective August 3, 2026. He will succeed Mike Mathias, who will transition to a Non-Executive Strategic Advisor role reporting to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jay Schottenstein.
Before joining American Eagle, Ravi Thanawala served as CFO and President, North America, at Papa John’s, where he also briefly held the role of interim CEO. Earlier, he was CFO for Nike North America and held finance and operations leadership positions at ANN Inc., overseeing Asia operations, global logistics, international trade, and finance. He has over two decades of experience in finance and operations across retail and consumer businesses.
Mike Mathias is a finance executive with more than two decades of experience in retail finance and operations. He joined American Eagle Outfitters over 20 years ago and has led functions including finance, legal, real estate and construction, global asset protection, workforce management, internal audit, investor relations, and corporate communications. Between 2017 and 2020, he served as Senior Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis at American Eagle. He spent 2016–2017 as Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis at General Nutrition Centers before returning to the company. Mathias began his career at The May Department Stores Company and currently serves as a strategic advisor following his tenure as Chief Financial Officer.
