
Union Government Extends CBDT Chairman Ravi Agrawal’s Tenure By Six Months
The Union government has extended the tenure of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) Chairman Ravi Agrawal by six months, effective July 1, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Agrawal is a 1988-batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer with nearly 38 years of public service experience across taxation, e-governance, policy, environment, and enforcement. Previously, he has served as Director at the Ministry of Food and Public Distribution, as Controller of Finance & Controller of Examination at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, and as Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Government of India (GoI). He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical & electronics engineering and a master’s degree in electrical & electronics engineering from IIT Kanpur.
