
IRCTC CMD Sanjay Kumar Jain Set To Step Down; Railways To Appoint Interim Chief
Sanjay Kumar Jain has resigned as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), with the Ministry of Railways approving his exit effective July 20, 2026. He stepped down, citing personal reasons, and requested to be relieved after serving the required notice period.
Jain served as CMD of IRCTC, leading the company’s catering, tourism, and ticketing businesses. Over his career, he has held positions including Principal Chief Commercial Manager, Northern Railway; Group General Manager (North Zone), IRCTC; Divisional Railway Manager, Mumbai, Central Railway; Joint Secretary in the Department of Public Enterprises; and Part-time Chairman and CEO of National Land Monetisation Corporation Ltd. He is a 1990-batch Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer and a Chartered Accountant with more than three decades of experience across the Ministry of Railways, public sector enterprises, and government institutions. Jain played a role in initiatives such as the expansion of IRCTC’s tourism business, the launch of Executive Lounges at railway stations, heritage conservation projects, and passenger service improvements across the railway network.
