Rohit Pathak To Step Down As CEO Of Copper Of Hindalco Industries; Kapil Agrawal Named Successor

Rohit Pathak, CEO of Copper and an SMP of Hindalco Industries Limited will be transitioning into a different role within the Aditya Birla Group, effective close of business hours on February 28, 2027, and shall accordingly cease to be an SMP, effective the said date.

The Board of Directors of the company has appointed Kapil Agrawal as CEO (Designate) of Copper, effective November 1, 2026. Further, he will take over as CEO of Copper effective March 1, 2027, upon completion of Pathak’s tenure.

Rohit Pathak is the CEO of Birla Copper, the copper business of Hindalco Industries, and one of the largest copper producers globally outside China. He also serves on the National Executive Council of IEEMA and has held leadership roles with the Indian Primary Copper Producers Association and the Fertiliser Association of India. Before Birla Copper, he was President and CEO of Aditya Birla Insulators, where he led business expansion and diversification initiatives. Pathak joined the Aditya Birla Group in 2011 as Principal Executive Assistant to Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla, advising on strategy, growth, and acquisitions. Earlier, he worked with McKinsey & Company. He holds a PGDM from IIM Ahmedabad and an engineering degree from BITS Pilani.

Kapil Agrawal is a business leader with over three decades of experience within the Aditya Birla Group across textiles, fashion, and retail. During his tenure, he has held leadership roles spanning operations, strategy, supply chain management, buying and merchandising, and overall business management. He previously served as CEO of the Group’s Overseas Spinning Business, where he oversaw international operations and growth initiatives. In 2023, he assumed full profit and loss responsibility for the Textiles Business. Agrawal has played a key role in driving operational efficiency, business strategy, and market development across multiple segments of the Group’s textile and retail businesses.
