
SML Mahindra CEO Dr. Venkataraman Srinivas To Exit, Vinod Kumar Sahay To Take Additional Charge
Dr. Venkataraman Srinivas will step down as Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of SML Mahindra, effective June 30, 2026, following his transition to a new role within the Mahindra Group.
To ensure continuity in operations, Executive Chairman Vinod Kumar Sahay will assume additional responsibilities from July 1, 2026, until a new CEO is appointed.
Before leading SML Mahindra as Executive Director and CEO, Dr. Srinivas held senior leadership roles at Mahindra Group, Ashok Leyland, and Ford Motor Company. At Ashok Leyland, he served as Special Director and Head of New Truck Product Development, leading the development and launch of multiple truck platforms. Earlier, at Ford Motor Company, he managed vehicle development and product launch programmes across cars, SUVs, and commercial vehicles. Dr. Srinivas holds an MBA in General Management and Strategy from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business and has completed executive leadership programmes at Harvard Business School, Yale School of Management, and IMD. His career has focused on product innovation, business transformation, and organisational leadership in the automotive sector.
Sahay is Executive Chairman of SML Mahindra and a member of the Group Executive Board of the Mahindra Group. He leads the group’s Aerospace, Advanced Technologies, Trucks, Buses, and Construction Equipment businesses, with a focus on strengthening manufacturing capabilities, defence technologies, and commercial vehicle operations. He also chairs Mahindra’s defence and aerospace entities and serves on the Boards of several group companies. Since joining Mahindra in 2015, he has held leadership roles, including CEO of Mahindra Two-Wheelers, Trucks & Buses, and Construction Equipment. Earlier, he spent 17 years at Tata Motors in various leadership positions within its commercial vehicles business. Sahay holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Delhi University, a Master’s degree in International Business and Marketing from Symbiosis, Pune, and is a Fulbright-CII Fellow. He also chairs FICCI’s Committee on Defence and Homeland Security.
