
Gopalan S. Raghavan Appointed As Executive Director Of BSE, Geetha Gangadharan Appointed As CRO
BSE Limited has appointed Gopalan S. Raghavan as Executive Director for Regulatory, Compliance, Risk Management, and Investor Grievance functions, effective June 18, 2026, subject to shareholder approval.
The Board has appointed Geetha Gangadharan as Chief Regulatory Officer (CRO) with effect from June 5, 2026. She has held regulatory and policy roles at the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), and the Central Bank of the UAE.
Kamala Kantharaj has resigned from the position of CRO, citing personal reasons has been accepted by the Board, effective May 29, 2026. She will continue with the exchange as Chief of Special Duty, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director (CEO & MD), until August 26, 2026.
The Board also recommended candidates to SEBI for the position of Executive Director for Vertical-3, in accordance with the Securities Contracts (Regulation) (Stock Exchanges and Clearing Corporations) Regulations, 2018.
Raghavan previously served as Executive Director and Interim MD at National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL), where he was involved in key operational and strategic initiatives. He was part of the founding team at SEBI, contributing to the development of India’s securities market framework. He is a capital markets professional with more than three decades of experience across market infrastructure, regulation, and financial services. A Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and an Associate Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Raghavan has also held leadership positions at CLSA India.
Gangadharan previously served as Chief General Manager (CGM) and Head of Enforcement at SEBI, where she handled matters related to market regulation and enforcement actions. She is a legal and regulatory professional with over 30 years of experience in enforcement, compliance, and policy matters. Her professional experience also includes assignments with RBI and the Central Bank of the UAE, covering regulatory oversight, governance, and policy implementation. Gangadharan holds LL.B. and LL.M. degrees from the University of Calicut and has completed regulatory and executive education programmes at Harvard Law School.
