Dr. Sharvil Patel Reappointed As MD Of Zydus Lifesciences; Kulin S. Lalbhai Joins As Independent Director

Zydus Lifesciences Limited has approved the reappointment of Dr. Sharvil P. Patel as Managing Director (MD) for five years starting April 1, 2027, subject to shareholder approval at the next annual general meeting (AGM).

The Board also approved the appointment of Kulin S. Lalbhai as an Independent Director for a five-year term beginning May 19, 2026, subject to shareholder approval.

Dr. Patel is currently the MD of Zydus Lifesciences and also serves as Chairman of Zydus Wellness Ltd. He has worked across pharmaceutical research, product development, and business leadership within the Zydus Group. Under his leadership, the group has expanded into drug discovery, vaccines, biologicals, and complex therapies, including work in non-cirrhotic NASH treatment. He has received industry recognitions, including awards from Economic Times, Forbes India Leadership Awards, ET Pharma, and Businessworld. He has been recognised for leadership in life sciences, innovation, and company performance across multiple years. Dr. Patel holds a doctorate from the University of Sunderland for research work in breast cancer conducted at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Centre, United States. He also completed a specialisation in chemical and pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Sunderland.

Lalbhai is the Whole-Time Director at Arvind Ltd. and has experience in consumer-facing and digital business operations. He has been involved in Arvind Ltd.’s transition into an omnichannel consumer organisation, with a focus on brand development, customer engagement, and digital integration. His work includes the expansion of retail formats such as stores, shop-in-shops, and e-commerce channels, along with entry into categories like footwear. He has also supported the development of digital platforms within the group, including Omuni, which later merged with Shiprocket. Lalbhai holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
