Rajesh Laheri Appointed As CFO Of GIC Re After V. Balkrishna’s Retirement

Rajesh Laheri has been appointed as the new Chief Financial Officer and Key Managerial Personnel (CFO & KMP) of General Insurance Corporation (GIC) of India. The company said the effective date of his appointment and assumption of charge will be announced separately. Laheri will be replacing V. Balkrishna.

Laheri has been associated with GIC of India for nearly three decades. He joined the corporation in April 1998 as a Direct Recruit Officer and currently heads the General Accounts and Taxation Department as Deputy General Manager. During his tenure at GIC Re, he has worked across areas including the preparation of final accounts and property reinsurance operations. He also handled finance and information technology functions during a six-year assignment at the company’s London branch. Laheri is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). He has also cleared the final examinations of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India and the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICSI & ICMAI). In addition, he is a Fellow Member of the Insurance Institute of India.

Balkrishna is a cost and management accountant with a Certificate of Merit from the Institute of Cost Accountants of India. He also holds FIII and ACII, London qualifications. During his 36-year tenure at GIC of India, he worked across several reinsurance and finance functions. Before stepping down under the company’s voluntary retirement scheme, Balkrishna managed the finance operations of GIC Re as CFO.
