
Founder Sunil B. Mittal Reappointed As Chairman Of Bharti Airtel; Nisaba Godrej Reappointed As Independent Director
Bharti Airtel has reappointed Founder Sunil Bharti Mittal as Chairman of the Board for another five-year term, effective October 1, 2026.
The Board of Bharti Airtel also approved the reappointment of Nisaba Godrej as an Independent Director for a second term of five years, effective August 4, 2026, subject to shareholder approval.
Mittal is the Founder and Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, established in 1976 with businesses spanning telecom, digital infrastructure, financial services, space communications, real estate, and hospitality. Its flagship company, Bharti Airtel, operates across 17 countries in India, South Asia, and Africa. He also serves as Co-Chairman of Eutelsat and is a Board Member at BT Group. He has held leadership roles at the International Chamber of Commerce and the GSMA. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan and the Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire by the United Kingdom. Mittal is also associated with education and philanthropy initiatives through the Bharti Airtel Foundation.
Godrej is the Executive Chairperson of Godrej Consumer Products and has been involved in the company’s strategy and business transformation for nearly two decades. She serves on the Boards of Godrej Industries, Godrej Agrovet, Bharti Airtel, and Mahindra & Mahindra. She is also associated with the Indian School of Business and serves on the Board of Trustees of Teach For India. Godrej holds a BSc degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She is based in Mumbai.
