Satish K. Chawla, Dr. Priyasheel Hada & Gulabbhai L. Rohit Retire As Independent Directors Of Shipping Corporation Of India
Satish Kumar Chawla, Dr. Priyasheel Hada, and Gulabbhai Lakhubhai Rohit have retired as Independent Directors of Shipping Corporation of India Limited, w.e.f. April 10, 2026.
Chawla has over four decades of experience in banking, covering finance, credit, foreign exchange, audit, and administration. He began his career with Punjab National Bank (PNB) in 1978 and served in multiple roles before retiring as general manager in 2020. After retirement, he worked in the social sector, including as president of Sewa Bharati Haryana Pradesh. He has also served as Independent Director at The State Trading Corporation of India Ltd. and chaired its audit committee. He is currently associated with a non-profit focused on youth development. Chawla holds a master’s degree in commerce and is a certified associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers, along with a diploma in personnel management and labour welfare.
Dr. Hada is a medical professional based in Ajmer with experience in general practice since 1990. He established Hada Hospital in 2000, where he continues to practice. He has also served as an independent director at National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation from 2021 to 2024 and chaired its audit committee. In addition to his clinical work, he is associated with Hada Institute of Medical Health Sciences and supports education initiatives, including funding school and higher education for students. Dr. Hada completed his MBBS from J.L.N Medical College Ajmer and later obtained a postgraduate diploma in mother and child health from the Medical Council of India in 2000.
Rohit founded a consulting firm in 1997 as an income tax practitioner approved by the Government of India. His work includes direct and indirect taxation, auditing, portfolio management, and industrial consultancy, along with advisory on documentation for election candidates. He has completed training programmes in areas such as policy making, CSR, risk management, and system audit. He is associated with social initiatives through Muktishrey Foundation and is involved in community and public activities in Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Rohit has experience of over 28 years in accounting, auditing, taxation, and consultancy. He holds qualifications including B.Com, M.Com, MBA, and has completed CA (Inter), along with certifications in corporate governance, finance, ESG, and public policy.
