Debojyoti Roy Appointed As Whole-Time Director Of Jindal Steel; Damodar Mittal Reappointed

Debojyoti Roy has been appointed as Whole-Time Director (Additional Director) of Jindal Steel Limited, effective March 27, 2026, subject to the approval of shareholders. He has succeeded Sabyasachi Bandyopadhyay, who retired effective the above-mentioned date.

Further, Damodar Mittal has been reappointed as Whole-Time Director, effective March 28, 2026, subject to the approval of shareholders.

Roy was previously associated with Tata Steel, where he served as Chief of Corporate Strategy and Planning, leading enterprise-wide strategy, performance initiatives, and growth programmes. He also worked as Director for Strategy and Transformation at Tata Steel UK, focusing on business restructuring and organisational changes. His experience spans business strategy, operations management, change management, and mergers and acquisitions. Roy holds a B.Tech and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from North Eastern Hill University and a PGDM from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar. He has around 27 years of experience.

Mittal began his career at Jindal Steel as a graduate engineer trainee in 1989. He serves as Executive Director and oversees iron zone operations at Angul, including projects such as coke ovens, direct reduced iron plants, pellet plants, slurry pipelines, and oxygen facilities. He has also led the commissioning of a blast furnace. His experience includes project execution, planning, scheduling, cost control, and resource management. Mittal holds a B.Tech in mechanical engineering and is a certified project manager with 37 years of experience in the steel and mining sector.
