David Mussafer To Step Down As Director Of Lululemon, Chip Bergh Joins The Board
Lululemon Athletica Founder Chip Wilson has supported the decision of lead Director David Mussafer to step down, but said further Board changes are required. The move comes amid a proxy contest between Wilson and the company.
The company has appointed Chip Bergh, former Head of Levi Strauss & Co., to its Board. He will stand for election at the upcoming shareholder meeting, replacing Mussafer, who will not seek re-election.
Mussafer is Lead Director at Lululemon Athletica and Chairman and Managing Partner (CMD) of Advent International, where he oversees assets under management exceeding USD 100 billion. He also serves on the Board of Olaplex Holdings. He has led more than 37 investments and is part of the firm’s executive committee. He has experience working with Boards and management teams across consumer businesses, focusing on capital allocation and operational strategy. He has supported companies such as Zimmermann and Sovos Brands during investment cycles. Mussafer first joined Lululemon’s Board in 2005 and later became Lead Director in 2014.
Bergh has been an Independent Director at Lululemon Athletica since March 2026 and was the former President and CEO of Levi Strauss & Co. He led the company for over a decade, overseeing its return to public markets in 2019 and driving growth in market value. Earlier, he spent 28 years at Procter & Gamble, where he held leadership roles across brand and product segments, including work on Swiffer, Old Spice, and the Gillette business. Bergh also serves on Boards including HP Inc., Pinterest, and e.l.f. Beauty, and teaches at Harvard Business School.
