Karnataka Bank Reappoints Balakrishna Alse As Independent Director

Balakrishna Alse S. has been appointed as Non-Executive Independent Director of Karnataka Bank Limited, effective March 6, 2026.

Meanwhile, the proposal to reappoint D.S. Ravindran as Non-Executive Independent Director did not receive the required majority.

Alse is a banking professional with 35 years of experience in the sector. During his tenure at Corporation Bank, he worked in agriculture lending, credit sanctions, credit risk management, human resources, and risk management. He also served as Chief Risk Officer and Chief Information Security Officer and held additional charge as Chief Vigilance Officer for a period. He later served as Executive Director at Oriental Bank of Commerce, where he handled corporate credit, stressed assets management, recovery, accounts, risk management, digital banking, and cybersecurity. After the merger of OBC with Punjab National Bank, he retired as Officer on Special Duty. Post retirement, Alse was selected as a member of the Settlement Advisory Committee of Canara Bank. He holds a B.Sc. in Agriculture and the CAIIB qualification.
