Thomson Reuters Appoints Gary E. Bischoping Jr. As CFO As Mike Eastwood Retires

Gary E. Bischoping Jr. has been appointed as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Thomson Reuters, effective April 13, 2026, and will assume the role of CFO on May 8, 2026. He will succeed Mike Eastwood, who will retire after a transition period.

Eastwood will become chairman of the Thomson Reuters Foundation, succeeding Jim Smith. He will also serve as an adviser to the President and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Steve Hasker.

Bischoping most recently worked as a partner at Hellman & Friedman, where he led the firm’s finance center of excellence. Earlier, he held CFO roles at Finastra and Varian Medical Systems and spent more than 17 years at Dell Technologies in finance positions, including divisional CFO and treasurer. Bischoping holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the State University of New York at Oswego and an MBA from the University Of Rochester Simon School Of Business.

Eastwood joined the company in 1998 and has held several finance leadership roles. Since January 2016, he has served as Senior Vice President and Head of Corporate Finance. Earlier, he worked as Chief Operations Officer for Thomson Reuters in Latin America from April 2014 to December 2015. He also served as Chief Financial Officer of the company’s Intellectual Property & Science business before it was sold in 2016. Before joining Thomson, Eastwood worked in finance and accounting roles at Fleer/SkyBox International and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from East Carolina University and an MBA from the University of North Carolina.
