French President Macron Backs EU AI Rules & Calls For Action On Child Digital Abuse

Speaking at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, French President Emmanuel Macron rejected criticism from U.S. officials over the EU AI Act and said Europe supports innovation with safeguards. He said France would pursue measures during its G7 presidency to restrict social media access for children under 15.

Secretary-General of the United Nations said children should not be exposed to unregulated AI systems. Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi called for AI systems that protect children and prevent concentration of power. The remarks followed concerns over misuse of AI tools, including content generated by Grok linked to Elon Musk. Executives including Sam Altman and Dario Amodei attended the event.

India outlined plans to expand AI infrastructure and digital standards as global debate over regulation and market control continues.
