Thomas J. Pritzker To Retire As Executive Chairman Of Hyatt Hotels; Mark S. Hoplamazian Named Chairman

Thomas J. Pritzker has retired as Executive Chairman of Hyatt Hotels Corporation with immediate effect and will not seek re-election to the Board at the company’s Annual Meeting in May.

The Board has appointed Mark S. Hoplamazian, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), as Chairman with immediate effect.

Pritzker has been a member of the Board of Directors of Hyatt Hotels Corporation since August 2004 and served as Executive Chairman from August 2004. He was CEO from August 2004 to December 2006. He was appointed President of Hyatt Corporation in 1980 and later served as Chairman and CEO until December 2006. He is Executive Chairman of The Pritzker Organisation. He previously served on the Boards of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., TransUnion Corp., and Marmon Holdings, Inc. He also holds leadership roles with the Centre for Strategic & International Studies and The Hyatt Foundation, which established The Pritzker Architecture Prize.

Hoplamazian was appointed to the Board of Directors of Hyatt Hotels Corporation in November 2006. He became President and CEO in December 2006 and has now been appointed Chairman, President, and CEO. Before this role, he served as President of The Pritzker Organisation, advising Pritzker family-owned businesses, including Hyatt. He earlier worked in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) at The First Boston Corporation in New York. He serves on the Board of VF Corporation and is involved with the American Hotel & Lodging Association, Brand USA, and the World Travel & Tourism Council, among other civic and business institutions.
