GAIL Appoints Deepak Gupta As Chairman & Managing Director

GAIL (India) Limited (formerly known as Gas Authority of India Limited) has appointed Deepak Gupta as its Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) with effect from March 1, 2026.

Gupta is currently serving as Director (Projects) at GAIL (India) and will take charge as CMD from the notified date. He has led the execution of large projects under Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) and Project Management Consultancy (PMC) models. At Engineers India Ltd., he was involved in the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Complex in Nigeria, the HPCL-Mittal Energy Ltd. (HMEL) Bhatinda Polymer Project, and the Mongolia refinery project. He has also contributed to projects for Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. (MRPL). He has written technical papers and spoken at industry forums on project execution and digitalisation. Gupta is a Mechanical Engineer from Delhi College of Engineering (now DTU) with 35 years of experience in the oil and gas sector. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI), USA, with experience in project management, construction, and business development across the hydrocarbon value chain.
