Citigroup Promotes 276 Employees To Managing Director Roles Across 21 Countries

Citigroup announced the promotion of 276 employees to Managing Director (MD) positions in 2025, the smallest group since 2020. The annual promotion represents the bank’s highest officer title.

The new MDs come from 21 countries, with nearly 49% based in North America, and women making up about 28% of the class. Citi’s markets unit led this year’s promotions with 55 employees elevated to MD, followed by 45 in the banking division. In October, the markets unit reported a record third-quarter revenue of USD 5.6 billion, up 15% year-on-year (YoY). In comparison, Citi promoted 344 employees in 2024, 304 in 2023, 331 in 2022, and 306 in 2021.
