Elon Musk Appoints Former Morgan Stanley Banker Anthony Armstrong As CFO Of xAI

Elon Musk has appointed Anthony Armstrong, a former Morgan Stanley banker, as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of his artificial intelligence (AI) company xAI, the Financial Times reported.

Armstrong replaced Mike Liberatore, who left earlier this year after disagreements over corporate structure and financial goals.

Armstrong has advised Elon Musk on the USD 44 billion acquisition of X, formerly Twitter, and has since become one of Musk’s closest aides. He will now oversee financial operations for both the social media platform and Musk’s AI Company, xAI. At Morgan Stanley, Armstrong built significant experience in technology mergers and acquisitions, including facilitating Musk’s Twitter purchase. His background positions him to manage the financial and operational complexities across Musk’s expanding business ventures.
