Board Stewardship Monthly Webinar Series: Stewardship in the Boardroom
Board Stewardship is delighted to announce the September edition of its flagship Monthly Live Webinar Series, ‘Stewardship in the Boardroom,’ scheduled for Friday, 5th September 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:15 PM IST. This edition will focus on the theme of stewardship in family enterprises, examining how governance, next-generation leadership, and financial choices are reshaping the future of family businesses.
As a platform committed to enabling future-ready Boards, Board Stewardship has curated this session to offer Directors, independent board members, and governance professionals valuable insights into challenges unique to family-owned companies. Speaking about the event, Vikesh Wallia, Managing Director and Editor of Board Stewardship, expressed that the line-up reflects a deliberate attempt to blend perspectives from law, finance, business advisory, and boardroom experience.
The highlight of the evening will also be the special e-launch of “The Family Business Playbook” by Atul Juvle, a resource that distils lessons in governance from centuries-old family firms and provides timeless frameworks for today’s Directors.
Session 1: Inaugural Addresses
The session will begin with a welcome address by Vikesh Wallia, setting the tone with a focus on stewardship and future-ready Boards. Shailesh Haribhakti will then deliver the inaugural address, reflecting on the role of Independent Directors, stewardship as a guiding principle, and challenges faced by family businesses in balancing tradition with governance. Anand Desai, Managing Partner, DSK Legal, will then deliver a keynote address, offering legal perspectives on aligning compliance with business growth and tackling real-world boardroom dilemmas. The session will conclude with a keynote by Mansee Singhal, Partner and Career Business Leader, Mercer India, who will speak on the transformation of family offices and the need to align vision, structures, and incentives.
Session 2: Book E-Launch
The inaugural session will feature the e-launch of “The Family Business Playbook” by Atul Juvle. He will present insights from global and Indian family firms, highlighting timeless governance lessons and practical frameworks that ensure trust, continuity, and resilience while guiding today’s Boards to balance tradition with modern governance.
Session 3: Panel Discussion – Emerging Role of Next-Gen in Family-Owned Businesses
The panel discussion will cover the place of the next generation in family-owned businesses. Dr Mita Dixit will discuss succession and innovation, K. Jayshankar will emphasise the role of empowering the youth to hold leadership positions within governance systems, and Atul Juvle will discuss case studies on how stewardship by the next generation is transforming family business decision making.
Session 4: Fireside Chat – Family Office: IPO or Stay Private
The evening features a fireside chat on “Family Office: IPO or Stay Private”. Krishnan Iyer will outline the benefits of IPOs, capital raising, and listing, while Akshay Purandare will argue for staying private, emphasising flexibility, control, and long-term strategy. Together, they will present practical guidance for family businesses.
