Joint CSO Paper Recommends Five Principles For Stronger EU Sustainability Implementation

A group of 28 European CSOs has released a joint paper titled “A View from Practitioners: Better Regulation for Stronger Implementation” during the European CSO Network meeting.

The paper presents recommendations for improving EU sustainability regulation, including the CSRD, CSDDD, and EU Taxonomy. Developed through six months of consultation and supported by CSR Europe, the paper highlights five guiding principles: simplify, align, engage, incentivise, and enable. The recommendations focus on refining existing directives, connecting sustainability with competitiveness, and enabling innovation.

The initiative aims to bridge the gap between policy and practice. The CSO Network invites policymakers and stakeholders to join further dialogue, with the rescheduled European Sustainable Industry Summit now set for 23–24 October.
