Yes Bank CEO Prashant Kumar Gets Six-Month Extension Amid Leadership Transition

Yes Bank Limited has announced that the Reserve Bank of India has approved a six-month extension for its Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director (MD & CEO), Prashant Kumar, effective from October 6, 2025. The extension will remain valid until a new CEO is appointed and takes charge, whichever comes earlier. The move ensures leadership continuity as the bank begins the process of identifying Kumar’s successor.

Prashant Kumar has been at the helm of Yes Bank since March 2020, when he was appointed as Managing Director & CEO following the bank’s reconstruction. He was reappointed in October 2022 for a three-year term. Before joining Yes Bank, Kumar had a distinguished 34-year career at State Bank of India (SBI), where he held several leadership positions, including Deputy Managing Director & CFO. He joined SBI as a Probationary Officer in 1983 and went on to serve in diverse roles spanning credit, human resources, and operations. His key assignments included Deputy Managing Director (HR) & Corporate Development Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief General Manager of the Kolkata Circle, among others. He also served as a faculty member at SBI’s premier training institute, the State Bank Academy in Gurugram. He holds degrees in science and law from Delhi University.
