
Rajat Sachar & Vinod Pipersenia Retire As Independent Directors Of DCIL
The government-backed Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL) has announced that two Independent Directors, Rajat Sachar and Vinod Kumar Pipersenia, have completed their tenures and retired from the Board effective May 26, 2025.
Sachar’s career began in the Ministry of Labour, where he served in various roles from 1987 to 1997. He later worked in the Ministry of Defence until 2002 and then in the Planning Commission until 2010. From 2010 to 2012, he served in the Department of Commerce and later in the Ministry of Finance. His experience includes work in labour welfare, defence training administration, procurement processes, and plan formulation for states, union territories, and islands. Sachar completed his master’s in economics from the Delhi School of Economics in 1984 and joined the Indian Economic Services in 1985. He attended the National Security and Strategic Studies Course at the National Defence College, New Delhi, in 2002.
Pipersenia is a retired Indian Administrative Service officer of the 1980 batch from the Assam-Meghalaya cadre. He served as Chief Secretary of Assam, taking over the role on 31st May 2015. During his career, he held various positions in both the Government of Assam and the Government of India. In October 2018, the Government of Assam appointed him as Chairman of Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd, Assam Electricity Grid Company Ltd, and Assam Power Generation Corporation Ltd. Pipersenia is a science graduate and holds a postgraduate degree in English Literature from Allahabad University.
