Purvi Sheth, Maheswar Sahu, Rajnish Kumar & Ameet Desai Reappointed As Independent Directors Of Ambuja Cements

Purvi Sheth, Maheswar Sahu, Rajnish Kumar, and Ameet Desai have been reappointed as Independent Directors of Ambuja Cements Limited for a second term of three years, effective September 16, 2025.

Purvi Sheth is an expert in strategic HR management with a focus on cultivating talent engagement and driving business performance. She has successfully implemented advanced leadership processes that enhance productivity and promote employee development. Through her strategic approach, she has helped numerous businesses improve organisational effectiveness, align talent with business goals, and create high-performance cultures. Sheth’s expertise in HR practices has enabled companies to build strong leadership pipelines and achieve sustainable growth by maximising the potential of their teams.

Maheswar Sahu is a former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer who joined the service in 1980. He has over three decades of experience and has served the Government of India (GoI) and the Government of Gujarat in various roles, retiring as Additional Chief Secretary in 2014. Currently, he chairs GIFT SEZ and IRM Energy and serves as an Independent Director in several companies. He spent over 20 years in industry-related roles and more than 10 years in PSU management. He also worked with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation for three years. Sahu played a key role in organising four Vibrant Gujarat events. Sahu holds a B.Sc. in electrical engineering from NIT Rourkela and an M.Sc. from the University of Birmingham.

Rajnish Kumar, former Chairman of State Bank of India (SBI), has nearly four decades at SBI. He held diverse leadership roles across India and abroad, including Chief General Manager in the North East, VP (Credit) in Toronto, and Head of UK operations post-Lehman crisis. He led SBI through challenging times and played a key role in launching YONO, a major digital banking platform. He also chaired SBI Life, SBI Foundation, SBI Capital Markets, and SBI Cards. Kumar served on the Boards of institutions like EXIM Bank, NIBM, and IBA and was part of Maharashtra’s CM Advisory Council on Fintech. Kumar has an M.Sc. in physics from Meerut University and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB).

Ameet Desai brings deep leadership experience across infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare. At Adani Group, he served as Executive Director and Group CFO, advised the Chairman, and sat on the Boards of three listed companies. At Core Healthcare, he served as CFO, led a GDR issuance, ran operations, executed complex manufacturing projects, and ensured regulatory compliance with Indian and global health authorities. He also led four listings, two public issues, a USD 2 billion QIP, and raised over USD 10 billion in loans and bonds. Earlier at Ranbaxy, he led global M&A and strategy, executing key deals in the US, Europe, and Japan.
