John Slaven, CEO Of Vedanta Aluminium, Resigns

John Slaven, CEO of Vedanta Aluminium, has resigned from his role, citing personal reasons. His resignation will be effective from September 30, 2024, less than a year after he assumed the position in October 2023.

Slaven brings over three decades of experience in the metals, mining, and modern manufacturing industries. Prior to joining Vedanta Aluminium, he served as Executive Vice President and COO at Alcoa, overseeing the company’s Bauxite, Alumina, and Aluminium operations. He has also held key executive roles at BHP Billiton, The Boston Consulting Group, and The De Beers Group of Companies. Earlier in his career, he served as a sub-lieutenant in the South African Navy.

In May 2024, Slaven was appointed Vice Chairman of the International Aluminium Institute.

Slaven holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cape Town.
