SEBI Approved Pramod Agarwal as BSE Chairman
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has approved the appointment of Pramod Agrawal, former Chief of Coal India, as the Chairman of the BSE, with effect from January 17, 2024. He will replace SS Mundra, who will retire on January 16, 2024.
Pramod Agrawal, a 1991-batch IAS officer, has more than three decades of experience, encompassing roles in public administration, urban development, public health engineering, public works, and transport departments. He held the position of Chairman of Coal India from February 2020 to June 2023. Before assuming the leadership of the Maharatna coal mining giant, Agrawal served as the Principal Secretary in the Departments of Technical Education, Skill Development & Employment, and Labour in the Government of Madhya Pradesh. He held key positions such as the Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Finance Corporation, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company, and Chief Executive Officer of Madhya Pradesh Rural Development Authority. Additionally, he served as the Collector of Morena and Mahasamund Districts in Madhya Pradesh.
He is an IIT alumnus, having completed his post-graduation in Design Engineering (M.Tech) from IIT Delhi in 1988 and his B.Tech in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mumbai in 1986.
