Walmart Reverses Diversity Policies, Cites Pressure from Activists

Walmart has announced it will scale back some of its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs following right-wing pressure.

Walmart revealed it would end racial equity training for staff and reassess supplier diversity programs aimed at increasing suppliers owned or managed by women, minorities, veterans, or LGBTQ individuals. Walmart is also reviewing its funding for Pride events, removing certain products from its marketplace, and not extending its USD 100 million Centre for Racial Equity commitment. Activist Robby Starbuck claimed responsibility for influencing the changes, which followed similar backtracking by other companies.
