Patel Engineering’s CMD Rupen Patel Passed Away, wife Janky Patel Takes Charge

Rupen Patel, Promoter, Chairman and Managing Director (MD) of Patel Engineering Limited, passed away on July 5, 2024. On July 6, 2024, the Board of Directors approved the appointment of his wife, Janky Patel, as a Non-Executive Director, to be designated as Chairperson of the company with immediate effect.

The board has also appointed Kavita Shirvaikar as acting Managing Director of the company, effective July 6, 2024. Following which, she stepped down from the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Rahul Agarwal is appointed as acting Chief Financial Officer of the company, with effect from July 6, 2024. Pursuant to his appointment as CFO, Agarwal will be designated as Key Managerial Personnel of the company.

Rupen Patel had over three decades of experience in the construction industry, having served as a Director since 1995. In September 1996, he was appointed as Executive Director. He was a commerce graduate from Mumbai University and an MBA from Babson College, USA.

Kavita Shirvaikar is a qualified Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and a graduate of the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India. She has vast experience spanning more than 20 years in the fields of accounting, tax, audit, banking, finance, fund management, etc.

Rahul Agarwal is a fellow of ICAI and has more than 18 years of experience in the fields of finance, investor relations, accounting, and auditing, including related legal, corporate, and other structuring. He has been associated with Patel Engineering since 2008.
