Minority shareholders of Dish TV make a fresh request for EGM

Dish TV India, a supplier of direct-to-home services, has received a second demand notice from its minority shareholders requesting an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) to elect three independent directors and dismiss two currently serving ones.

The second requisition notice, which was sent on June 28, reiterates the requests of the Dish TV Minority Shareholders Association. In order to make a decision regarding the requisition notice for having an EGM, the Dish TV board must hold a board meeting within 21 days. The association’s first demand notice, dated May 15, had been denied by Dish TV due to procedural and numerical validity.

The shareholders are seeking to remove Shankar Aggarwal and Rashmi Aggarwal from the board and the nomination of K Badri Narayanan, Satish Kumar Yanmandra, and Jeet Sen Gupta as non-executive independent directors. In a statement, Dish TV stated that it will handle the requisition notice in compliance with relevant legislation.

According to Rahul Hingmire, the association’s spokeswoman, the second requisition notice has the support of 12.7% of the shareholders, up from 10.15% previously.
