Following RBI Approval, Standard Chartered Appoints Ex-JP Morgan CEO PD Singh As CEO

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the banking regulator, has approved the appointment of former JP Morgan India Chief, Prabdev (PD) Singh, as the new Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered (StanChart) India for three years term with effect from April 01, succeeding Zarin Daruwala, who is set to retire on March 31.

He was the preferred candidate for the UK-based, Asia-focused lender among three names submitted to the RBI, following interviews conducted in October.

Before completing his first term as CEO of JP Morgan PD Singh took early exit. Singh, an engineer by training, worked at HSBC Holdings Plc for a decade before joining JPMorgan in 2010.
