Dr. Deepali Pant Joshi joins TVS Motor’s board as Independent Director

TVS Motor Company has approved the appointment of Dr. Deepali Pant Joshi, as an Additional Director and Non-Executive Independent Director of the Company, for a first term of 5 consecutive years effective September 11, 2023. Dr. Pant Joshi, aged 65 years, retired as Executive Director from RBI in 2017. She has more than 4 decades of experience in the formulation of macroeconomic policies. She headed various departments in RBI including the Department of Rural Planning and Credit and Financial Inclusion Department and Customer Service & Financial Education Department. During her long career with RBI, she also held some key positions like Banking Ombudsman for the State of Andhra Pradesh, Regional Director at RBI Jaipur, and also served at RBI Banking operations in Rajasthan, Principal Bankers Training College, Mumbai, etc.

She is a member of the Executive Council University of Allahabad, The Outstanding Speaker Bureau, and has served as a nominee on behalf of RBI on the Board of Andhra Bank, North East Institute of Bank Management, Institute of Banking Personnel Selection I.B.P.S., Bhartiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran Private Ltd. (RBI Currency Pass). Her core competencies include microfinance, Regulation and Supervision, Foreign Exchange, including Payment systems, and Currency management. She was a Member of the 12th plan group on rationalisation of Government Sponsored Schemes, the Malegam Committee on Interests and Concerns in the Microfinance Sector, the Committee on comprehensive services for small businesses and low-income households and G-20 India Expert on the Financial Inclusion and Payment Systems Expert Group.

Her Professional achievements include Postdoctoral work in Finance and Economics from the University of Harvard in the USA, Awarded the Skoch Challenger award for contribution to Financial Inclusion in March, Awarded the Chancellor’s medal at the University of Allahabad for academic proficiency, Awarded the Amarnath Jha Gold Medal, University of Allahabad She has published various books on Economics, Financial Inclusion, and Sustainable Development.

She holds a Master’s Degree in Arts from the University of Allahabad, a law graduate from the University of Lucknow, and also completed the Harvard University Harvard Asia Centre Post-doctoral work in Finance and Economics (on secondment from the RBI).

In another key development, K N Radhakrishnan is reappointed as Director and CEO of TVS Motor Company Limited for a further period of five years effective October 23, 2023. He began his career as a Management Trainee at Sundaram-Clayton Limited, the parent company. Over time, he worked his way up, becoming the President & CEO of TVS Motor Company, where he is currently. With his strong leadership skills and years of experience, he played a key role in making TVS Motor a well-respected two-wheeler manufacturer in India and one of the top 10 globally. His hard work led to the company winning important awards like the Deming Application Prize in 2002 and the TPM Excellence Award in 2004. Under his leadership, the company expanded to Indonesia in 2007 and started making three-wheelers in 2008. He also serves on the boards of subsidiary companies. He has a Master’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology in Chennai, and he has also completed a Management Education Program at the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad.
