Vedanta Appoints Rajarangamani Gopalan As Independent Director, Replacing Padmini Sekhsaria
The Board of Directors of the Vedanta Limited on January 31, 2025, has also considered the appointment of Rajarangamani Gopalan as an Additional Director designated as a Non-Executive Independent Director for a first term of 2 years effective from February 05, 2025. Padmini Sekhsaria shall cease to hold office as a Non-Executive Independent Director with effect from February 04, 2025.
Subject to approval of the shareholders of the company.
Gopalan served as a member of the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) under the Prime Minister’s authority. Prior to retirement, Gopalan held the post of Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India. He was overseeing matters of Capital Markets, Infrastructure Finance, G-20, the World Bank (WB), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), budget preparation, public-private partnerships (PPP), the Directorate of Currency, and other pertinent economic matters. He has served as CMD of Tamil Nadu Newsprints and Papers Ltd., MD of Tamil Nadu Agro Industries Corporation Ltd., Joint MD of Tamil Nadu Dairy development Federation Ltd. and is currently on the Board of Sundaram-Clayton Ltd., TVS Holdings Ltd., and ZEEL. He holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from Boston University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and Management from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
