Ola Directed to Improve Refund and Billing Mechanism for Auto Rides

The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has directed Ola Electric Mobility Limited to give customers the option of how they want their refunds processed and to furnish receipts for each auto ride. This decision follows an upsurge in customer complaints against the platform.

The Indian government has urged Ola to establish a mechanism that will allow users to pick between bank transfers or coupons for refunds. Currently, Ola exclusively provides coupon-based refunds for concerns. Furthermore, the CCPA requires Ola to produce bills or invoices for each auto journey, classifying the lack of receipts as an “unfair trade practice.” This action follows several complaints concerning overcharging and refund difficulties between January and October 2024.
