Ravi Rajagopal To Step Down As Chairman And Independent Director Of Fortis Healthcare
Ravi Rajagopal, Chairman and Independent Director, to step down from the Board of Fortis Healthcare Limited with effect from September 30, 2024.
The Board of Directors of the company has decided to designate Indrajit Banerjee, Independent Director, as the Chairman of the company with effect from October 1, 2024, until the vacancy is filled.
Rajagopal, 67, is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) with 35 years of experience in major consumer goods companies. He has been Chairman of Fortis Healthcare since 2018. Additionally, he serves as Vice Chairman and Independent Director of The Peabody Group and as Director and Audit Chair of Airtel Africa Plc. He is also a trustee of the Science Museum Foundation UK. His previous roles include Director and Audit Chair at Vedanta plc, Diageo nominee Director at United Spirits, India, and a 20-year tenure at Diageo plc. Prior to Diageo, he worked at ITC India. Rajagopal chairs an Advisory Board managing over 8,000 childcare centres in northern India and is a trustee for a group of four schools in Chennai that provide free education to over 1,100 underprivileged children. He has also lectured on behavioural economics at the Saïd Business School, Oxford University, and Imperial College, London.
Indrajit Banerjee is a qualified Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). He has a B. Com. (Hons) degree from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. Since 2015 he has been engaged in certain specific management consultancy services, including business structuring and planning; management of growth situations; management of crisis situations through cash flow monitoring; prioritisation of operational requirements and bank relationship management; financing of working capital and establishment of risk management processes in multi-business and multiregional organisations; business and financial process integration for existing organisations as well as for merging entities.
