Tata Steel Reappointed T.V Narendran as Managing Director & CEO

T. V. Narendran was reappointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Tata Steel Limited. The reappointment will be effective from September 19, 2023, for a period of 5 years.

Narendran has over 35 years of experience in the Mining and Metals industries. He joined Tata Steel in 1988. His career at Tata Steel spanned planning, operations, and general management covering several functions in India and overseas including marketing and sales, international trade, and supply chain. He had stints at various locations including Jamshedpur, Kolkata, Dubai, and Singapore. Before becoming the Managing Director of Tata Steel, Narendran was the Vice President of Safety and Flat Products of the Company since 2010.

As an industry veteran, he was co-chair of the World Economic Forum’s Mining and Metals Governor’s Council from 2016 to 2018. From 2021 to 2022, he presided over the Indian Institute of Metals and also served as the President of India’s leading industry chamber the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Narendran earned his mechanical engineering degree at The National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Trichy. He received his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta. He has received Distinguished Alumni Awards from NIT Trichy and IIM Calcutta. He has completed the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD in France and is a Chevening Scholar.
